ROLLING WITH SERIES

Rolling With... CADEN

For our first feature, we're rolling with CADEN (@cadenmackinnon ). Hailing from Mississauga, he's made his mark on the TO battle scene, winning rounds and titles with his animated style of falcon punch hits and groovy tut combos. He's one of the leads on @torontopopping , organizing battles and events for the popping community. Always a major supporter of every Toronto streetdance event, he's been riding with PNW since the very beginning. Peep into his quarantine life as he keeps it fresh and funky!

Rolling With... JESTER
Next up, we are rolling with Jesse aka Jester! (@jamminjazzyjester ) A force within the Toronto scene, always jamming and bringing good vibes, he's recently returned to Hamilton where he shows us his art, dance, figs, and life in quarantine. Jesse reps  Albino Zebrahs, Conscious Soles, and Supernaturalz crews ...check out @jjcatibog for more of his art.... "Dabbled in many various dance styles from contemporary, ballroom to tik tok (lol)...my approach is very situational and very much music-driven. Depending what song is being played and how I’m feeling at that moment, I may or may not be inclined to throwdown/ dance/ let go. We all experience music differently and music gives us a different experience every time. I’m a FEELSTYLER more than I am a freestyler. I move because I feel, not just because I know how  (to move)! :)" - Bboy Jester One day in the physically undisturbed future, you'll be able to catch him in the circle and it will be oh so sweet.

Rolling With... N9NE
For our third release, we are rolling with N9NE (@n9neinthehouse ) as she serves you storytelling in quarantine. A rising star in the ballroom scene, Dre stepped out on the scene as a 007, quickly proved herself worthy of the title Princess of the House, and now reigns as Mother of the House of Louboutin, Toronto chapter (@louboutin.ca ). She radiates femininity in all its forms and instills pride, liberation, and healing both on and off the runway. There's no stopping N9NE!

Ballroom : Forged by Black and Latinx queer and trans people in the 70s, the underground culture celebrates ultimate self-expression and liberation, protests mainstream notions of gender and sexuality, and fosters networks of care and support
House : within the ballroom scene, houses serve as tight-knit support systems and chosen families. These houses are named after fashion labels and icons. House Fathers and Mothers are responsible for leading the way and supporting their children.
Ball : At these events, rival houses face off in a series of categories to determine who gets their 10s and who takes the trophy
kiki : The kiki scene is centered on community and friendly competition. These events are often run by younger members and used as a place to practice and hone their craft for mainstream events.
007 : Before being recruited into a house, performers enter ball categories under the title of 007, identifying themselves as free agents

Rolling With... GLO
For our fourth and final Rolling With feature, we are rolling with GLO, as she momentarily swaps Toronto views for the greenery of the west coast. Glo Romy is an artist, graphic designer, and dancer whose expressions are grounded in the pursuit of encouraging community, introspection, and a love for Hip Hop. She's collaborated with dope organizations like Nia Centre for the Arts, UNITY Charity, and VIBE Arts, and was featured in our Btown Get Down. Off the dancefloor, her design creativity compelled us to have her design our 2018 poster. For more of her work, be sure to check out her award-winning sneakerhead editorial "SHOEBAE" and "Naptural", an app that helps to manage afro hair. All her creative goods can be found on her website www.gloromy.com Glo encourages you to send her a shout - whether it’s for creative endeavours, or just to say hello :)
