Parks N' Wreck is a free outdoor streetdance event aimed to gather the Toronto streetdance community and local residents at local parks. As part of The Toronto Arts Council's Arts in the Parks program, Parks N' Wreck offers free workshops, streetdance battles, cyphers and social dancing, which showcase the vibrancy and diversity of streetdance artistry that exists in Toronto. By engaging local neighbourhoods with cultural activities and transforming public space, Parks N' Wreck enlivens the area and enhances social connection through music and dance.
Our event preserves the cultural practices of the battle and cypher, where dancers display their artistic prowess through competition and exchange. By providing a public, outdoor forum where we can showcase the vibrancy of streetdance, we hope to promote and elevate the presence of Toronto dancers. Finally, we enable and encourage participation through open workshops, as a way to provide training opportunities for dancers and a welcoming environment for those interested in learning more.
Parks N' Wreck would like to recognize and thank the Toronto Arts Council for their support.
